A little about me:
I understand what it's like to struggle in school without knowing why. Growing up in Boulder and attending Shining Mountain Waldorf School K-12, I didn't particularly love academics, later discovering this was due to undiagnosed ADHD and autism. This personal experience with learning differences shapes everything I do as an educator today.
After exploring different paths, including running a martial arts school for seven years, I returned to academics with renewed purpose. I graduated cum laude from Portland State University with a degree in English Literature. I completed both Waldorf high school teacher training through the Center for Anthroposophy and a Master's in Secondary English Education.
From 2018 to 2023, I taught English and History at Portland Waldorf School, Tara Performing Arts High School, and Shining Mountain Waldorf High School. Those years in the classroom were incredibly rewarding. I loved the deep conversations with students about everything from literature to propaganda in Russia, China, and the US. Building relationships with students over multiple years and watching them grow was the highlight of my teaching career.
Since 2020, I've been tutoring students with diverse learning needs, specializing in ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and executive functioning support. My approach combines professional training with lived experience because I know firsthand how the right support can transform a student's relationship with learning.
Working with teenagers is never dull, and the relationships I've built with students over 6+ years are deeply meaningful. I love being someone students can count on when things get difficult, and seeing them develop confidence in their abilities is what drives my passion for this work.
